Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Receiving Its Own Manga Spin-Off

Sekiro Manga Focuses On Character That Dies Way More Than Twice

Like Dark Souls and Bloodborne before it, FromSoftware’s latest IV-drip of frustration Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, will be getting its own comic series, this time in the form of an official manga exploring Hanbei the Undying’s past.

As you can see in the sample frames above, the comic intends to retain the game’s egregious use of stylistic blood spurts. It’ll be called Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei, and art is being taken care of by Shin Yamamoto, who worked on the Monster Hunter comic Flash Hunter. The first issue drops on the website Comic Walker on May 27th, and is licensed by US-based publisher Yen Press, who released a cool tease of the manga’s story:

“The Sengoku Era…A time when losing a battle meant losing it all. The Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina, aims for world domination…That is, until he encounters a certain Samurai…”

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Hanbei the Undying is a character you meet early in your adventure who allows you to try out new fighting techniques on him. He’s pretty great, just like the game itself.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is currently available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Be sure to check out our recent feature on why Sekiro, and pretty much all games for that matter, should be accessible to everyone, and the details on the game’s latest update.
